(The Supreme Personality, Lord Krishna said) Charity given out of
duty, without expectation of return, at the proper time and place, and to a worthy person is considered to be in the mode
of goodness. (Bhagavad-Gita 17.20)
O sinless one, the mode of goodness, being purer than the others,
is illuminating, and it frees one from all sinful reactions. Those situated in that mode become conditioned by a sense of
happiness and knowledge. (Bhagavad-Gita 14.6)
Therefore, act of sacrifice, charity and penance are not to be given
up; they must be performed. Indeed, sacrifice, charity and penance purify even the great souls. (Bhagavad-Gita 18.5)
